We have maintained our custom of meeting on the first Tuesday of every month at 13.30 outside St Philip’s Church, Temple Road (one of the few places in this area where there is free parking in the afternoons). If you need a reason to come out walking then join the Sandmill Strollers on our monthly walks – we have beautiful scenery, great company and chat followed by (when possible) refreshments.
In April we were due to walk from Greystones towards Bray along the cliff path but unfortunately four of our group were in Spain walking part of the Camino de Santiago (which was superb) and nobody else turned up for the walk. Thank to Jean Hickey for supervising and awaiting some participants.
Our May walk was through the Bog Meadow (Enniskerry) and then Knocksink Wood. It was a glorious spring day, wild garlic and primroses abounded everywhere and as we strolled we discussed the merits of different recipes for wild garlic pesto. The day was so warm and sunny that we decided to round off the day in the village of Enniskerry enjoying an ice-cream whilst sitting on a wall. Utter bliss.
In June we had our usual trip to Kilcoole Beach to check on the health of the Little Tern Colony.
Do join us for any of our forthcoming walks:
4 July: Tibradden Mountain from The Hazel House cafe (new walk).
1 August: Along Wicklow Way south from Boranaralty Bridge (Glencullen)
5 September: Roundwood Reservoir circuit
