On Sunday 1 August we assembled for an uplifting outdoor service of worship. The service took place on the lawn of St Philip’s Church. We gave thanks for the wonder of creation. Canon Gyles’ sermon brought to light the profound consequences of climate change for one particular family in Ethiopia. Coming together outdoors reminded us in a very real way of how blessed we are in nature and also our responsibilities in guardianship of the natural world. Observing Covid-19 protocol, we were able to sing the hymns played eloquently by David O’Shea on piano. The birds continued their song and a fresh breeze gently blew around us prompting us further to think carefully about how we live.
