There will be a joint Sunday School for children in both parishes on Sunday 22September in Sandford at 10am, and on Sunday 1 December at 11am at St Philip’s. It would be really great to see children from both parishes at our Sunday School gatherings, which involve arts and crafts, stories and games based on scripture and church festivals.
Some of the reasons we continue to offer Sunday School are:
- It is one way in which the parish can support you in bringing your children up in the Christian faith (and in keeping the promises many of you will have made at their baptism)
- It is a way to facilitate and support you in bringing your children to church as they become more a part of our parish community (we are aware that 45/55 minutes can be a long time for an infant/child to be in church!)
- It provides an opportunity for children to gather and have fun while learning about faith and the bible
- It provides an opportunity for parents to get to know one another
- It encourages us to consider the future of our parish
Our thanks must go to our Sunday School leaders – Lucy Doherty, Michael Hastings, Sarah McGinley, Robert Murphy and Ruby Wu (Sandford) and Leila Johari, Cal Kilroy, Rachel O’Byrne and Maeve Harty (St Philip’s), for the work, thought and commitment they give to organising these activities.
Thanks also to Rob Tilson (Sandford) and to Rob Slattery (St Philip’s) who are both ‘retiring’ from Sunday school, for their commitment to Sunday School over the past number of years.
