Parish Development Committee

The Parish Development Committee (PDC) has been actively involved in a variety of projects and initiatives over recent months, continuing its work to strengthen parish life and community engagement.

Eco-Congregation Success

One of the highlights of the past year was the parishes being awarded the Eco-Congregation Ireland Award. This is a significant achievement, with only 110 Christian faith communities across Ireland currently part of the Eco-Congregation movement, and just a handful reaching award level. Ours is the only parish to have received the award in the last two years, which is a testament to the persistence and dedication of so many across both parishes. Building on this success, a Green Committee/Team is being established to continue the work of environmental stewardship and to explore opportunities for wider community outreach and biodiversity projects.

Dodder Film Screening

Plans are underway to host a special screening of the Dodder film on Wednesday 2 October at 7pm in St Philip’s Hall. This promises to be a meaningful opportunity to connect with our wider community, celebrate local heritage, and enjoy an evening of fellowship together.

Messy Church

The next Messy Church will be held on Sunday 30 November from 4pm to 6pm in St Philip’s Hall and Church. These intergenerational gatherings, filled with worship, crafts, and games, have become a lively and much-loved feature of parish life. The PDC will continue hosting three Messy Church sessions across the academic year, ensuring that children, parents, and grandparents alike can share in creative, faith-filled fun.

Cycle to Church Sunday

On Sunday 27 July, parishioners took part in Cycle to Church Sunday. The event was well supported, with members of the PDC on hand to welcome cyclists and provide water to participants. It was a joyful and practical expression of our commitment to community spirit, healthy living, and care for the environment.

From celebrating the Eco-Congregation Award to planning events that bring people together across generations, the PDC continues to focus on initiatives that strengthen worship, community, and service.

We warmly invite parishioners to get involved in these projects whether through the new Green Committee, Messy Church, or upcoming events and to share in shaping the life of our parish. Kate Lyons, Chair
