Sandford Parish and Sandford Parish National School will celebrate their 200th anniversary in June 2026. Among the celebratory events planned are the launch of the Sandford 200 Book and Exhibition on the evening of Thursday 25 June, and a special service on the morning of Sunday 28 June, with the exhibition running over the weekend.
Sandford 200 Exhibition
We are seeking donations of, or access to, relevant memorabilia pertaining to any aspect of parish life: photographs, printed material, artefacts or other items of interest. These items may be left at the Rectory, with the Sandford Churchwardens, or contact Irene Barber at ireneebarber@gmail.com. Attach as much detail as possible together with your name and contact information to ensure the safe return of your items.
Sandford 200 Book
We continue to work towards producing a book on the history of Sandford Parish for our 200th anniversary celebrations. One of the chapters in the book concerns memories of parish life. We are looking for parishioners to share their memories of parish life – especially social groups, organizations, etc. We are especially interested in hearing from:
—those who hold/have held leadership roles in parish organizations
—those who might have memories stretching back some decades to parish life of an earlier era, and
—anyone who might have recollections of important figures in parish life who are now deceased.
If you would be willing to contribute a short piece (a few hundred words), you might get in touch with David O’Shea (doshea3@gmail.com) by the end of September to express your interest or to ask further questions (finished contributions do not need to be sent by this date). Edited versions of pieces received will be collected together for the book.
