One of this year’s achievements has been the completion of a documentary on the life of the joint parishes filmed and edited by transition year students of Alexandra College. This will be shown at a joint service in November marking the four years since the Parish Forum, which led to the setting up of the Parish Development Committee. A document listing the suggestions made at the Forum and the Committee’s work at responding to these suggestions will be available in the Autumn.
The annual coffee morning for young families took place successfully in Merrion Cricket Club on 8 June.
A craft group has been set up by Penny Dewar and meets monthly.
The Parish Pub Night is discontinued for the summer.
Banners advertising special events – for example, Harvest Festival, Carol Services, Summer Recitals, St Philip’s Art Exhibition, among others – are now completed for both parishes.
The BYO Picnic in St Philip’s, which has run in June for the past three years will be replaced this year by ‘Ice-cream Sunday’, to be held in conjunction with the joint parishes’ Family Service in St Philip’s on 18 June.
A special thanks to Irene Barber, who has retired from the committee, for all her work over the four years since the Parish Forum.
