St Philip’s Spring Bazaar

St Philip’s Spring Bazaar really is one of the luckiest events in the church calendar. I can only remember one or two years when it rained. How do they do it? We enjoyed yet another glorious day out, with a particularly bounteous plant stall, delicious burgers and the finest selection of sweet treats on sale. Sometimes it’s like you’re transported back to simpler days of our childhood with the kids enjoying tug o’ war, football competitions and a rummage for a new game at the second-hand toys stall. Not a screen in sight. Inside the hall itself was the busy hum of bargain hunters looking through the handbags, jewellery, clothing, dining sets, picture frames…followed by a refreshing cup of tea or coffee. This year I saw lots of new faces as the Bazaar seems to have become quite a neighbourhood event which is wonderful. After all, coming together as part of a community is scientifically proven to enrich our lives and improve our ‘happiness score’. It’s an event that always takes priority in our family calendar. Well done to everyone involved! Kate Carbery
