Sunday School

Garden Gang mural for Harvest Festival, St Philip’s

Sunday School is held in both Sandford and St Philip’s on a number of Sundays each term (taking into account school holidays). It caters for children (including infants) of all ages up to Confirmation age. Sunday School involves children with arts & crafts, stories, songs and games based on Scripture and Church festivals/seasons. All children are welcome to join us – please just pop along!

If you would like further information or be added to our mailing list, please contact the Parish Office at sandfordandstphilips@gmail.com or 086 038 6432.

The Garden Gang

The Garden Gang is for all primary school children in Sandford and St. Philip’s parishes  who are interested in making dens, growing pumpkins, making scarecrows, going on insect hunts as well as growing food to eat and flowers to give as presents. The Garden Gang is free to join.

The Garden Gang has its own allotment beside St Philip’s Church. It takes place every Saturday afternoon from 12 noon – 1.30pm (weather permitting) during term times. It stops just after Hallowe’en and recommences in late Feb/early March when the weather gets warmer and the days are longer. Each Saturday the children plant seeds or plants, followed by scrumptious drinking chocolate and games. Tools are provided. Parents are asked for a small voluntary contribution per family to buy seeds and plants.

If you are interested in your children joining please contact Helen O’Kelly.

Eco-Congregation Ireland

Following the submission of our registration forms in October 2022, we received confirmation in January 2023 from Eco-Congregation Ireland that our grouped parishes are now officially registered, and we have received our first award – an ‘Awareness Award’ in recognition of the work that the Parish Development Committee has done in identifying our existing good environmental practices and where there are areas for improvement under the four categories of spiritual, practical, community and global. Since registering with Eco-Congregation Ireland, we have continued to be more eco-conscious in our approach to all aspects of parish activities.

Contact details are listed in the SandMill News which is published and distributed to parishioners, or alternatively contact the Parish Office: 086 038 6432.
