Our annual joint outdoor family service, with Ice Cream, at St Philip’s was once again a wonderful occasion. We were blessed with glorious sunshine, and every seat was filled as members of our parish communities gathered together for worship in the open air. It was such a bright day that Rev. Sonia wore sunglasses for only the second time she can remember, while many of us came prepared with sun hats and plenty of sunscreen. Even one of our parishioners’ dogs joined us for the service, becoming another cheerful member of the congregation for the morning. After the service, the ice cream van arrived just in the nick of time, serving delicious 99 ice creams and a selection of other refreshing treats, making for a perfect ending to a memorable morning of worship, fellowship and glorious sunshine. As one of our younger parishioners, my seven-year-old son, summed it up: “Church is even better when you get an ice cream afterwards!” Sarah McGinley
